From the mountains to the sea.

Sarah and Beth made the trip over from Adelaide to join us for the Easter break. And what an Easter break it was!

We started the long weekend off spending the night camping at the top of Mount Hotham in the Victorian high country.

We then made the journey to the east coast of Victoria to Mallacoota. A cool seaside town with a lazy hippie vibe. Martin, Stephen’s dad, joined us here too. We spent the days exploring, kayaking, fishing, boating, and simply enjoying the getaway. We even had an Easter egg hunt on Sunday morning (I’ll never truly grow up!).

True love 💜

Today was the most magical, love-filled day I have ever been a part of. It started off early with the usual pre-wedding things: hair, makeup, photos. Emma was so calm and relaxed, and oh so excited about marrying her favourite person in the whole world.

We got to the winery and proceeded down the ‘aisle.’ The bridal party were all standing together on the green grass under the afternoon sun, like a scene out of a movie. As Emma and Jai exchanged their heart felt vows I was stood there holding our bouquets and two sweet little butterflies fluttered down and landed on my flowers, resting there for a while. I’ve never felt a sense of peace and rightness quiet like I did in that moment. Everything just seemed so tranquil and perfect, and I couldn’t help but let a tear slip out and roll down my cheek.

My best friend just became a Mrs.

Congratulations.

Hens fun

This weekend my really good friend is marrying the love of her life. Emma and I have been friends for 24 years, and I am so excited to be a part of it all. It’s great how you make friends in life who you know will be just that, friends for life. Emma is one of those friends.

Tonight we celebrated her impending marriage by having a small Hens Night. It was such a great night. We ate nice food, drank wine, made flower crowns, played some games, and enjoyed celebrating Emma.

Snowy Creek

The beauty of living on the boarder next to the great murray river, and in the heart of the high country, is that there are so many AMAZING places to explore just around the corner.

Late yesterday afternoon we decided to pack up Peppy (our home-away-from-home pajero) and go for a little adventure.

We had been recommended to go to the pub in Mitta Mitta, as it had recently undergone big renovations. So we made our way to the foot of the Great Dividing Range and we weren’t disappointed.

Mitta Mitta is a tiny picturesque place along the Omeo highway, and the meeting point of Snowy Creek and the Mitta Mitta River. We arrived in the late afternoon and the sun was low in the clear blue sky. We walked into the pub and were speechless. No sticky beer drenched carpet, or seedy men sitting at a dimly lit bar. Instead, it was fresh and open. Lovely reclaimed timber benches, modern country decor and friendly bar staff.

We headed outside with beer and cider in hand and admired the setting sun over the river. A lovely meal was to follow, and then back on the road to find a spot to camp up for the night.

We followed the Snowy River for only a short while when we found a little clearing perfect for us. We quickly gathered enough wood to start a small fire, and enjoyed the evening star gazing and fire watching.

In the morning we had a (very) refreshing dip in the river, and then packed up camp and made our way to Lake Dartmouth, stopping off to admire scenery along the way, before heading back home.

SURPRISE! 🎈

My very good friend, Sarah, was sick for her actual birthday this year, and had had a pretty shit couple of months. Being interstate makes it hard at times when you want to just ‘be there’ for someone. So I decided to secretly travel back to Adelaide and surprise her for her party. Stephen wanted to join in on the whole thing, because deep down he really loves Sarah too, so he agreed to making the 11 hour drive with me (and driving the whole way I might add!!)

So with the help of Beth we made our way to the party to surprise Sarah. I wish I had gotten someone to film it, because the plan went off without a hitch, and Sarah was ecstatic!!

It was such a fun night and our drunk selves partied till the early hours of the morning like we were 18 again! Safe to say I don’t recover like an 18 year old anymore and the 11 hour drive home again on the Sunday was an absolute killer. But it was so worth it!!

Happy Birthday Sarah!

Australia Day long weekend

What better way to spend the long weekend than away on a 4WD adventure through the Victorian high country. We were in convey with a great group of people and it was an amazing time. I have discovered I LOVE driving through mud puddles, our rooftop tent is the best thing ever, and Australian mountain wild flowers are so beautiful.

I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

Happy New Year 🎉

What a way to see in the new year.

Stephen, Franki and I travelled from Adelaide to Warrnambool and found a spot off the beaten track to camp up for the night. We couldn’t have asked for a better place. Totally isolated, on the side of the rocky cliffs, with the ocean crashing down below, red wine, sunset and stars.

It was beautiful.

This is us!

Welcome to our blog. This a space where we will share anything and everything that is happening in our lives. Our travels, our family and friends, our work, our hobbies.

The original intention of this blog is so that our family and friends interstate and overseas can keep up to date in a more meaningful way than Facebook or Instagram. Feel free to leave comments, or just have a browse from the comfort of your lounge chair 🙂

We’re not here to become famous bloggers. It’s just another avenue for social media communication. Let’s be honest, our mothers will probably make up majority of this blogs traffic. But we’re cool with that.

Enjoy.
